Lyu Bu was very strong, and mighty on the battlefield. Everyone except for
Jang Fei would agree. Lyu Bu fought Guan Yu and Jang Fei together by himself,
the result being a draw. If it hadn't been for Liu Pei joining the fight and
making it three versus one, Lyu Bu wouldn't have withdrawn. Who knew who the
winner would have been, had the fight continued? Judging from this, no one at
that time could beat Lyu Bu in a one on one duel.
Tung Cho bribed Lyu Bu with a horse that could run a thousand miles a day,
nicknamed the scarlet rabbit, to draw him close to his side. Tung Cho, already
having plans to replace the Emperor, then became even more arrogant than before.
Wang Yun, who wanted to get rid of Tung Cho, knew that in order to do so must
get rid of Lyu Bu first. He used the beauty of Tiao Ch'an to trick them. First,
he promised to marry her to Lyu Bu, then he presented her to Tung Cho. He fooled
Lyu Bu into believing that Tiao Ch'an had been forcefully taken by Tung Cho.
The scheme worked, collapsing the relationship between Lyu Bu and Tung Cho.
Finally, Lyu Bu made his move, killing Tung Cho while he was out in the open.
In the span of a few months, Lyu Bu rebelled numerous times, because
of his selfishness. His actions were despised by others. How could someone
like him have any friends? Who would trust someone so rebellious?
After Tung Cho was killed, Lyu Bu went into exile. Wherever he went, people
couldn't get along with him for very long. In the end, he turned to Liu Pei
for help. His answer to Liu Pei's kindness, however, was yet another betrayal.
While Liu Pei was away at war, Lyu Bu took over his city. No one could stand
him. So when Tsau Tsau defeated Lyu Bu's army, and about to behead him, even
Liu Pei, who was usually kind-hearted, did not speak up for him. In the end,
Lyu Bu, who had guts but no brains, was defeated by Tsau Tsau and executed
at Pai Men Lou.
